DENVER – March 29, 2016PEBC presents its Annual Luncheon featuring keynote speaker Dr. Tim Hodges, Thursday, April 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Seawell Grand Ballroom in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex. The Annual Luncheon, sponsored by Comcast, will also honor 2016 Cal Frazier Investing in Education Award recipients Dr. Cile Chavez and Senator Rollie Heath. Keynote speaker Dr. Tim Hodges is Director of Research for Gallup’s Education Practice. He consults with K-12 school districts and higher education institutions and leads research projects in strengths development, employee selection, employee engagement, and well-being. Hodges has delivered presentations and written journal articles and technical reports on topics including the Clifton StrengthsFinder, strengths-based development, Positive Psychology, and leadership development.

He has contributed chapters to the books “Positive Psychology in Practice,” “Organizational Behavior (10th Edition),” and the “Oxford Handbook of Positive Psychology and Work.” His research has been published in the journals Educational Horizons, Organizational Dynamics, and College and University. Hodges serves as a reviewer of scholarly work submitted for publication in the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies and has often served on review boards for regional and national academic conferences.

Cal Frazier Investing in Education Award Recipients

At the Annual Luncheon, PEBC will honor 2016 Cal Frazier Investing in Education Award recipients Dr. Cile Chavez and Senator Rollie Heath. For 15 years, Cal Frazier served as the commissioner for the Colorado Department of Education and was a driving force in attracting qualified teachers into Colorado’s public schools. He devoted his life to improving both the Colorado and national education system and is remembered as a “leader of leaders” in public education. The Cal Frazier Awards honor individuals who are carrying his passion for education forward in Colorado.

Dr. Chavez provides motivation and expertise to organizations on Leadership and Human Development. She co-authored the bestselling book, “Spirit Movers: Attributes for Transforming Leadership.” Chavez served as Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of Littleton Public Schools; Assistant Dean of the College of Education at the University of Northern Colorado; and as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the State Colleges of Colorado. She is the former Colorado State Director of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; and President of the Colorado Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Chavez has been named one of the top 100 educators in the U.S., was a finalist for the Colorado Superintendent of the Year award, and has been named in the Hall of Distinguished Educators at Northwestern State University.

Senator Heath is in his second and final term on the Colorado General Assembly representing Senate District 18. Heath was elected Senate Majority Leader in 2013 and Assistant Senate Minority Leader in 2014. His private sector career included 17 years in senior management with Johns Manville Corporation. He founded the Rocky Mountain World Trade Center in 1988, and later served on the Gateway Committee that helped educate the Denver metro region about the importance of building Denver International Airport (DIA). He ran as the Democratic Party’s nominee for Governor of Colorado in 2002, and in 2008 was named one of PEBC’s 25 Champions of Education. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin and then served in the U.S. Army for 23 years, with nine years of active duty and 14 years of reserve service.
