Wattum Named O’Brien Chamber Citizen of the Year

~Annual Award Recognizes Commitment to Parker’s Business Community

PARKER, Colo. — Nov. 21, 2005 — The Parker Chamber of Commerce has named Scott Wattum, owner of DVD Reflections in Parker, the 2005 O’Brien Chamber Citizen of the Year. The Chamber presents the annual award, which is named for longtime Parker resident and community leader Charlie O’Brien, to an individual who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the advancement of the Parker business community.

“Scott is the type of individual who cares enough about the Parker community to get involved and help make it stronger,” said Brian Moore, president-elect for the Parker Chamber of Commerce board of directors, who presented Wattum with the award at the monthly membership meeting on Nov. 10. “We’re pleased to present the O’Brien Chamber Citizen of the Year award to such a deserving recipient – someone who is a great asset to the business community and to the Town of Parker.”

Since joining the Chamber, Wattum has been highly active in events including the Parker Country Festival, Taste of Parker, 2004 Christmas Carriage Parade, Business After Hours networking events, and the Brown Bag program, which provides educational seminars for local professionals. He is chair of the Chamber’s Ambassador program, involved with the Maximize Your Membership committee and has served on the member relations committee. In November, Wattum was appointed to the Chamber’s board of directors and will begin his term on Jan. 1, 2006.

Wattum was a volunteer and state certified firefighter for the Rattlesnake Fire Protection District in Elbert County for 11 years. While with the fire department, he organized and promoted numerous community, holiday and family events. He is also a judge for local, regional and state DECA competitions. Wattum owns and operates DVD Reflections, a video services company, located at 19031 E. Plaza Dr. in Parker.
