~Annual Fundraiser Brought More Than 600 People and $70,000 to Support JFS of Colorado

DENVER — May 15, 2006 — The Second Annual JFS Executive Luncheon, held on Thursday, May 11, at the Donald R. Seawell Grand Ballroom at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, attracted more than 600 people and raised approximately $70,000 for Jewish Family Service of Colorado’s (JFS) programs and services. JFS, a human services agency serving more than 18,000 people each year in the Denver metro area, welcomed humor columnist and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Dave Barry as the luncheon’s featured speaker.

“I’m familiar with Jewish Family Service and their valuable work across the country through my own family’s experiences,” said Barry. “I’m thrilled and honored that I could come to Denver and be involved in such a worthwhile event.”

Dave Barry was a syndicated humor columnist for 25 years, his work appearing in more than 500 newspapers in the United States and around the world. In 1988, Barry won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. He has also written more than 30 books, including Dave Barry’s Money Secrets, Dave Barry is From Mars and Venus, and Dave Barry’s Complete Guide to Guys.

JFS President and Chief Executive Officer Yana Vishnitsky welcomed the more than 600 attendees to the luncheon, and Governor Bill Owens commended Jewish Family Service of Colorado’s work in the Colorado community. Sheryl and Ken Feiler, Alan Mayer and Dean Prina, M.D., were this year’s event chairs, and Jim Benemann, anchor for Denver’s CBS4, emceed the luncheon.

The JFS Executive Luncheon has grown popular as a light-hearted, fun way to support the vital programs of Jewish Family Service of Colorado, a metro Denver community agency serving families and children, the elderly, the emotionally vulnerable, and people with disabilities.
