Chamber Seeks Art Submissions For Parker Country Festival

~Parker Chamber of Commerce Calls on Artists of all Ages to Submit Work

PARKER, Colo. — January 27, 2005 — The Parker Chamber of Commerce is searching for original artwork to represent the official festival image of the Parker Country Festival, scheduled for June 10, 11 and 12. Artists of any age interested in submitting art can contact Mary McElligatt, events coordinator at the Parker Chamber of Commerce, at 303-841-4268.

“The Parker Country Festival is the premier community event of the year, and we’re looking for art submissions that depict what the festival experience is all about,” said McElligatt. “We’re open to a wide variety of themes, from whimsical to profound, and classic to contemporary.”
The original piece of art should be no larger than 11×17, and the deadline for submission to the chamber is March 1.

Winning Artists Enjoy Significant Exposure
Each year, submissions from community artists are considered for the official logo and promotional materials for the Parker Country Festival. The chosen art is then used for all posters and event collateral, and limited edition pieces are produced.
Last year’s winning artist, Christy Layton, said that after five years of enjoying the festival with her family, creating the art for the event was an honor.
“For an artist just starting out, it really gave me a lot of confidence to know that the community enjoyed my work,” said Layton. “The exposure was very exciting, and I even contracted a few jobs as a result of the experience. Parker has an amazing art community, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the festival is represented.”
