DENVER — April 14, 2008 — Colorado Press Women honored Xstatic Public Relations with two first-place awards at its 2008 Communications Contest on Saturday, recognizing excellence in communication for Rescue Beverage Corporation and The Breakaway Group. The annual communications awards were presented at the Colorado Press Women spring conference at the Mount Vernon Country Club, just west of Denver on Lookout Mountain. Chamber Seeks Community Involvement for 2008 Parker Country Festival

~Volunteer and Sponsorship Opportunities Open for Individuals, Businesses

PARKER, Colo. — April 14, 2008 — The Parker Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers and sponsors to support the fun and festivities that have made the Parker Country Festival a favorite summer tradition for Parker and Denver area families for more than 30 years. The Festival, produced annually by the Parker Chamber, features live music from some of Colorado’s hottest bands, carnival rides, arts and crafts, and plenty of food and fun for all ages. This year, the annual event is presented by KYGO 98.5, and will take place June 13-15 at O’Brien Park in downtown Parker.

Get Active!

Pump up your press release by using active voice in your writing. Journalists use active voice in newswriting because it adds energy to a story and engages readers. Example: instead of “the business was started by Smith”, try “Smith launched the business.” Or, replace “the companies came to an agreement to” with “the companies agreed to.” Active voice is more succinct than passive writing and simply sounds more interesting!
