The Breakaway Group Speeds Adoption of Computerized Provider Order Entry for Denver Health

~Rapid Adoption of Electronic Order System Will Improve Patient Care

DENVER — February 28, 2007 — Denver Health Medical Center has launched a computerized provider order entry (CPOE) system, and selected The Breakaway Group to help its residents quickly adopt the technology. Denver Health expects the system to improve the level of patient care, and chose The Breakaway Group to accelerate end-user adoption through simulations and coaching.

CPOE allows for direct entry of medical orders, such as prescriptions and lab tests. Research suggests CPOE can reduce medical errors and enhance treatment when fully integrated into the healthcare organization, though the technology is notoriously difficult to implement.

KIND Kicks Off Inaugural Colorado Children’s Dental Health Week Feb. 18

DENVER — Feb. 16, 2007 — Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND), a nonprofit organization that provides high-quality, affordable dental care to children in need throughout Colorado, will lead the first-ever Colorado Children’s Dental Health Week from Sunday, Feb. 18 through Saturday, Feb. 24. In partnership with KIND, Governor Bill Ritter proclaimed Colorado Children’s Dental Health Week to promote awareness of proper oral health for all Colorado children. The week coincides with National Children’s Dental Health Month in February.
