Xstatic PR Launches Weblog Publicity Service (Advertising & Marketing Review)

~Marketing Review, May 1, 2005

As the number of Internet Weblogs surpasses 4 million, Xstatic Public Relations, a Denver-based communications agency, has added blog relations to its list of services for companies looking to share company information and manage their reputations online. The service helps organizations communicate with bloggers, create their own blogs or research the world of blogs to stay informed of relevant news and information.

Weblogs – personal online journals written by anyone from celebrities to corporate CEOs – have created a world of “citizen journalism,” where news reporters and editors are no longer the only people who determine what is news. According to a study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, 27 percent of U.S. online adults read blogs. A large majority of those readers are young, media-savvy consumers in their 20s and 30s.

“There is an entire population who don’t get their information from traditional media such as print newspapers and magazines, and organizations must start paying attention to alternative communication channels,” said J.D. McCartney, Chief Executive Officer of Xstatic Public Relations. “Blogs are very powerful alternatives to mainstream media and it’s essential for companies and nonprofits to recognize their widespread impact.”

Once dismissed by communications professionals as fads, blogs are quickly gaining momentum throughout the world and along the Front Range. The weekend of April 9, the Rocky Mountain News announced plans for YourHub.com, an ambitious network of community Web sites that will rely on the community to share news, photos, opinions and event information.

According to McCartney, organizations that understand these new tools and use them to their advantage will come out on top. “With more new media outlets than ever, companies who do the best job of communicating with customers in a variety of creative ways will be this decade’s big winners.”
